COLLECTION AND PREPARATION OF CHILLED INSEMINATION DOSES

The advantage of using chilled semen is the cheaper cost of the whole process than using frozen semen, and due to the longer survival of sperm in the reproductive tract of the bitch, a higher chance of impregnation of the bitch, approaching insemination with fresh semen. The disadvantage isthe risk of damage to the semen on the way, if, for example, the semen is damaged. If the semen is found to be of poor quality or cannot be collected at all, you have limited time to secure another dog.

Most transport boxes for chilled semen will maintain the required temperature of 5 to 10 °C (at which the semen must be kept for the entire time until insemination) for a maximum of 40 h (depending also on the surrounding environment). If the outside temperature is high, the endurance is shortened; on the contrary, if it is freezing outside, there is a risk of freezing and thus destroying the semen. For this reason, you must ensure delivery ideally within the next day of dispatch. Transport companies do not deliver at the weekend, so please note that we only have to send the semen (and therefore to collect the dog) from Monday to Thursday.

Since chilled semen is ideally inseminated max. 5 days after collection, everything must be timed carefully.

The dog is collected using the masturbation method, a painless and comfortable way for the dog. The presence of the bitch is an advantage, this stimulation of the dog will increase the chance of successful collection and the gain of the greatest number of sperm in the ejaculate. If you are not able to provide a bitch with heat, at least bring a non-teaser bitch. Keep the dog walked and clean.

Please send us in advance the address of the recipient (foreign vet) and the name of the owner of the bitch. By e-mail, also a scan of the pedigree and passport pages with valid vaccinations and identification of the dog.

Please make an appointment by phone. Before that, however, please create a user account (register) and fill in the entry form with information about yourself and your dog. You do not need to fill in the form if your dog has been collected from us in the past.
