FROZEN SEMEN
-
A great advantage of preserving the seed with liquid nitrogen (i.e. frost at a temperature of up to -196ºC) is its unlimited storage. Thus, you can use the seed at any time, even after the death of its donor. To ensure maximum safety for stored breeding units, our containers are equipped with a device for remote monitoring of liquid nitrogen levels.
If the transport of frozen semen abroad is planned, it is advisable to use the above-mentioned characteristics of the frozen semen and transport it in advance before a brood bitch (to which the planned semen should be used) begins to be in her season.
Semen is collected by masturbation method. For the dog it's painless and easy.
The presence of a bitch in season is an advantage, this stimulation of the dog will increase the chances of successful collection and gain the greatest number of sperm in the ejaculate. If you are not able to provide a bitch with heat, at least bring a non-heating bitch. Keep the dog walked and clean.
You also need to bring the original and COPY of the pedigree certificate, the dog's passport and a COPY of the pages with valid vaccinations and identification of the dog (name and chip of the dog). To make an appointment, you must fill out an entry form with basic information about you and the dog. You do not need to fill out the form if the dog has been picked up by us in the past.
Choose your dog's semen collection date in our booking system using the button below (you will need to create an account first).
If you plan to export semen abroad, and especially to countries outside the EU, it should be remembered that each country has its own import conditions, which may vary between countries. Let us know when filling out the entry form.
For insemination with preserved semen , the Czech-Moravian Kennel Club requires a DNA profile of the dog (semen donor) from December 2020. The former ISAG 2006 DNA profiling method is being replaced by ISAG 2020. Because ISAG 2006 and 2020 methods are not compatible, breeders cannot compare ISAG 2006 and 2020 formats - more information at https://genocan.eu/cs/news/comparison-of-isag-2006-vs-isag-2020-dog-dna-profiles/. Please arrange this testing through the genetic laboratory offering the test, if appropriate, and arrange for sampling through your vet. You can have the test done at any time without being tied to a semen collection date for freezing.
After the seed has been taken, its quality is assessed and the seed is preserved if its quality is sufficient for this purpose. If not, you will only pay the price of taking and examining the seed.
As part of the semen assessment, you will get not only information about the quality of fresh ejaculate, but also about frozen doses, in the form of a Czech-English protocol. The examination includes a microbial assessment of the thawed semen.
